OCR result for CJK alphabet is lower than expected

Using screenshot of web site for comparison, accuracy of Abbyys textgrabber is much higher than this app, which also performs OCR offline. Its a pity since this app is capable to import PDF file for OCR and then export result to PDF file, which is a fantastic feature!

PDFs missing, app lost documents in iCloud

I hate to give anything one star. However, this app has "lost" the last three pdfs Ive created and they are absolutely crucial documents. The app will not let me open "Documents" (as if there are none there), while iCloud Drive has the majority of my documents but is missing the three most recent ones This is a terrible disappointment and is going to cause a huge headache to retrace steps to find receipts. This is also the first time Ive felt strongly enough to to write a review. Just terrible experience. And no, I am not using a beta of iOS 9.

Saved my bacon

My iPhone 5s crashed this week, before I did my July expense reports. I scan and dispose of my receipts when I get them. When I reinstalled the app and reactivated iCloud drive, all my PDF files were there to download to the app

Freezes a lot

Dont waste your money. I tried this app for school and its not user friendly at all. Not to mention it freezes all the time and does not save my work as I go. Notability is cheaper and more user friendly!

Great

So far so good. Easy to use.

Annotating PDFs

If you have ever tried to annotate a pdf document only to discover that the document was sent as an image, you will really appreciate this app. Simply open in the app, OCR the document, and select, highlight, copy, to your hearts content. A wonderful app to have in your documents management folder.

My favorite app

I have saved so much time with this app. I need to scan documents while on the road. With this, my phone is a scanner. As simple as taking a photo. In a few seconds, its cropped and ready to export to my Dropbox account. Just great!

Crashes on OCR of large scanned PDF

I have a 120 page scanned PDF and it crashes to os during OCR process.

OCR Crashed four time on a thirty three page PDF

Gave up, looking for a refund since that is what I need it for.

Lacks Key Feature

No iOS extension for Web-to-PDF functionality. This is a serious flaw to the app.

Spectacularly easy to use

I am a big fan of PDF Scan+. Easy to use, to process scans, and to Send them where I want.

Does a Great Job!

Ive tried quite a few OCR scanner apps and this one has been the most accurate with the texts.

Bill Greep

The best app on the iPhone......

Pro-level OCR, Finds Edges Well, Cloud Sync is Perfect

Knowing this company from using their other product, desktop TextExpander, I figured this would be quality. I use this for scanning legal and medical documents. Since the OCR is pretty good, I can then search the files when I need to reference a bill. Dropbox syncing happens quickly and automatically to a folder of your choice. File naming automatically populates the date, saving time. Wish list: more detailed B/W scans for sheet music, more precision in auto mode. Highly recommended.

Great app

I use Scan+ primarily for scanning multi-page documents and for the OCR feature. In general, those features work quite well, and page edge recognition is solid (comparable to other good iPhone "scanners" out there). What I like most is the ability to quickly and easily scan multi-page documents: Scan+ senses edges, takes a pic, and you move on to the next page. Unlike other scanners, Scan+ has optical character recognition (OCR) capabilities, which is a huge bonus if you ever want to search the text of a scanned document.

Best scanner

Easy and quick to use. Love it.

Very handy, good app

Have only had this app for about 2 months and have only scanned a dozen or so items. Thus far, the quality is outstanding and functionality far surpassed my expectations. I cant think of a downside. SmileSoftware may have raised the bar so high they might have a difficult time finding a way to upgrade or update their own product; it appears to be that good.

The worst in a crowded market

I have used virtually every scanning app on the market. This one takes the medal for being the worst. Using the auto feature, the app crashes routinely. It gives you not a second to turn the page before snapping a photo of your fingers. Also, it is very dumb in finish the page edges so oftentimes it cuts off corners. Finally, the manual mode functions as a (bad) camera and the documents turn out worse than simply using the iPhones built in camera. I like this company but this app did not get much love from them, clearly.

Scan Plus a Pocket OCR Tool

I have found Scan+ to be very effective to OCR various scans and PDF documents.

Using it for OCR only

I found that this is a most useful app for performing OCR on a PDF. It has performed so well for me that I seldom have the need to use my PDFPen Pro 7. I use another iOS app for organizing, editing and reading PDF files.
